Map and Compass plus Natural Wayfinding

Knowing where you are and how to plan a route is one of the ‘musts’ of wilderness know-how. It is more than possible to walk in a complete circle within a mile. Actually, I have seen people circle in under 300 metres (in thick brush)–experienced woods people too.

This course offers beginner and advanced level enthusiasts clear and thorough training with the use of map and compass. With supervision, you will have the opportinity to triangulate your position from a map and compass–to then plot a course out.

Natural wayfinding is what many expereinced woods people make use of.

Besides being useful if you compass breaks, these skills will help re-inforce what your compass is telling you–It is not uncommon for people to dis-trust their compass. Various means will be learned.
